Trauma often leaves an impact that transcends words—but with specialized clinical support, healing can become a transformative catalyst for profound personal evolution. Our Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) program is a highly specialized track within our ASAM 3.5 residential treatment setting, meticulously designed for individuals where trauma-related disorders and substance use are deeply intertwined. Led by a team of elite, trauma-certified therapists, this program integrates EMDR therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, somatic healing, and peer support groups. All treatment is delivered within The Sanctuary, a dedicated, tranquil space on our Cohasset campus created exclusively for those on a journey of post-traumatic healing and discovery.
Clients enrolled in the PTG track engage in a minimum of five (5) hours per week of intensive, trauma-specific group therapy. These sessions are facilitated by clinicians with advanced training in trauma-informed care. Our integrative model utilizes both evidence-based and body-centered modalities:
This multi-dimensional approach enables clients to process traumatic memories safely while cultivating the emotional regulation, self-insight, and coping mechanisms necessary for long-term sobriety.
Each participant in the PTG program undergoes an exhaustive psychiatric evaluation conducted by a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Medical Doctor (MD). We provide consistent psychiatric monitoring throughout your stay to ensure stabilization and symptom management, perfectly coordinated by our integrated clinical team.
Because trauma fundamentally alters the nervous system, our PTG program incorporates holistic and experiential therapies to promote grounding and a renewed sense of safety within the body. Clients may engage in:
These interventions reinforce recovery skills by lowering the body’s stress response and enhancing emotional resilience.
Clients receive two (2) hours of individual therapy per week, providing a discreet and supportive environment to process past trauma at an intentional pace. We prioritize safety, informed consent, and personal empowerment, helping you develop a bespoke, trauma-informed roadmap for the future.
We have intentionally designed The Sanctuary—a private, inviting space reserved exclusively for our PTG clients. This is where our trauma groups and therapeutic activities take place. Its calm and supportive atmosphere is engineered to foster the trust and emotional security essential for post-traumatic growth and connection.
Healing continues long after residential care ends. From your first day, your primary clinician and discharge coordinator collaborate with you to ensure a seamless transition into a trauma-informed step-down or aftercare program, anchoring your progress in a sustainable community setting.
At our Cohasset center, trauma-informed care is more than a single program—it is the foundation of our entire mission. Every staff member, from our medical team to our support personnel, is trained in trauma-informed principles. We ensure that every individual is treated with the dignity, compassion, and profound respect they deserve throughout their entire treatment journey.
